A Day in the Life of a Holt Plumbing and Heating Technician

Rise and Shine: The Early Morning Routine

As a technician at Holt Plumbing and Heating, my day starts bright and early. By 6:30 AM, I’m up and preparing for a busy day of serving our community in West Des Moines, Des Moines, Clive, Urbandale, Norwalk, and Johnston, IA. After a quick breakfast and coffee, I’m out the door by 7:15 AM, ready to tackle whatever challenges the day may bring.

First Call: Plumbing Emergency in Urbandale

My first call of the day is a plumbing emergency in Urbandale. A homeowner woke up to a flooded basement due to a burst pipe. I arrive on the scene by 8:00 AM, assess the situation, and get to work. Within a couple of hours, I’ve repaired the pipe and helped the homeowner start the cleanup process.

Midday: Air Conditioner Service in West Des Moines

After wrapping up the plumbing emergency, I head to West Des Moines for a scheduled air conditioner service appointment. It’s a routine maintenance call, but these are crucial for preventing future issues. I perform the following tasks:

  • Clean or replace air filters
  • Check refrigerant levels
  • Inspect and clean condenser coils
  • Verify proper function of all components

Afternoon: AC Repair in Clive

Post-lunch, I’m off to Clive for an AC repair job. The homeowner’s unit isn’t cooling effectively, and I discover a faulty compressor. After explaining the issue and getting approval for the repair, I replace the compressor and get their system back up and running.

Evening: Wrapping Up in Johnston

My final call of the day is in Johnston, where I’m installing a new, energy-efficient air conditioning system. It’s a big job, but by 7:00 PM, the installation is complete, and I’ve walked the homeowners through the operation of their new system.

As I head home, I reflect on another busy but rewarding day at Holt Plumbing and Heating. Whether it’s plumbing services or AC repairs, every day brings new challenges and opportunities to help our customers stay comfortable in their homes.
